Hi all!

Thanks for taking the time to click on my link to learn a bit about Hope Speaks and how I will be joining them this summer. I am currently in graduate school studying Speech-Language Pathology at Biola University and through our program, I have been presented with an amazing opportunity to travel to Uganda to work with individuals with disabilities. 

In Uganda there are about three million individuals living with disabilities. Due to a lack of education and understanding of disabilities in this area, these children are often hidden or locked away from society, and thought to be a curse or a burden. Hope Speaks main ministry is to provide services to these families through advocacy, empowerment, and speech and language therapy including swallowing therapies. They even go above and beyond, helping provide communities with food, educating communities about disabilities, working at day camps, and more!

There are only a handful of full time Speech-Language Pathologists in Uganda at this time. With many children in need of assistance, Hope Speaks invites volunteer professionals and graduate students (like me!) to assist with assessments and therapy. We will join them for a few weeks in August and will be seeing them at clinics within the city and slums, as well as in schools and homes. 

Each donation made on this page will go directly to Hope Speaks and will be applied towards my trip. If you are able to donate to our work at this time, I would greatly appreciate it. If you are unable, no worries! All I ask is that you keep our team and these children in your thoughts and prayers.
