We will be traveling to Bahir Dar, Ethiopia this fall and giving out chickens to provide added eggs and income to families.  We will also be educating families on the horror of human trafficking.  The most important sharing we do, however, will be the sharing the love of God with the beautiful people of Ethiopia.  Below is an update sent out from one of the 2015 trips to the area. 

We had seen Banta earlier in the day, but he had faded into the background of the hut we were visiting.  As we entered the last dark hut of the day there was Banta again.  This was his home.  It was small, there was scarcely enough room to fit us all in.  We were given the seat of honor, a bump on the floor with a piece of plastic to protect us from the dirt.  The dung fire was heating coffee for us.  The smoke filled the room.

“Thank you for allowing us to visit your home today…”  We talk about chickens, ask about family and then talk about God.   We tell them of a special love letter written for them, for us.  The love letter is called the Bible.  It is filled with God’s plan of redemption through his son Jesus the Christ.  Bante, motions for us to stop.  He gets up to get a bible that they have hidden in a basket.  They cannot read, so this bible, God’s word, has no meaning.  He asks us to explain more.  His eyes are riveted to ours…understanding, acceptance.  There is rejoicing in heaven today, because our Lord has become a Redeemer of three more souls.  This small, dark, smoky hut became a palace today...the King of King now resides there with its occupants.

The team is well, excited, and amazed at what God is doing.  Today 97 people heard about the love of God and 43 acknowledged him as their savior.  1 new home church was started in the village today.  

So then faith comes from hearing and hearing from the word of God. Romans 10:17
