For many of our patients, their Sole Hope shoes are their first pair of new shoes. They may also be the only pair of closed-toe shoes that they have. Why is this important? Closed-toe shoes cover the sole, the sides, the toes, and the heels of the feet, protecting the areas where jiggers often burrow.
Bare feet are unprotected feet, and they are vulnerable to foot-related diseases like jiggers. The good news is that jiggers are preventable. When children receive treatment and shoes from Sole Hope to protect their feet, they also receive education on how to treat and prevent jiggers. In order to remain jigger-free, education must be put into action. Your support makes this process possible. The Shoe Roundup Donation Challenge gives YOU an opportunity to share the mission of Sole Hope and help make this life-changing process a reality for thousands of vulnerable feet in Uganda.
This challenge is easy! You can participate in 3 ways!
1. Count the number of shoes in your closet or in your home if you’re participating as a family. Raise $1 for every pair of shoes in your home to help provide a pair of Sole Hope shoes for someone in Uganda.
2. Host a Shoe Party and make as many shoes as you have in your closet or home. For example, if you have 20 pairs of shoes in your home, you would make 20 pairs of shoes and raise the matching donations for each pair to be completed in Uganda.
3. Challenge your friends! Take a photo of you counting your shoes or making your donation and then tag some friends on social media and challenge them to do the same!
