Subject: Urgent Appeal - We need your help to sustain our operations and programs.

Dear Friend,

I hope this message finds you well. I'm reaching out to you today with a matter of urgency regarding CDFI's ongoing operations and programs in both Jamaica and Kenya.

As a non-profit organization committed to meeting the needs of children with disabilities in developing countries, we take great pride in ensuring that the vast majority of our funds, 95% to be exact, go directly towards our programs. It’s important to acknowledge, however, that the remaining 5% is crucial for covering essential operational expenses.

Friend, I am writing to tell you today that our general funds, which cover our operational expenses, help maintain a healthy balance in our bank account, and actually fund our entire Jamaica program, are running extremely low.

Here's why your support for our Spring/Summer 2024 General Funds Campaign is more critical than ever:

Operational Sustainability: Every non-profit organization requires non-designated funds to sustain general operations. Without these funds, we face challenges in covering basic expenses such as administrative costs and overhead, which we pride ourselves in keeping very low.

Project-Specific Funding: While we often appeal for funds for specific projects, it's essential to highlight that those donations are allocated exclusively to the designated projects. The majority of our work (CDFI’s entire program in Jamaica, for example) is funded entirely through general funds.

Unforeseen Needs: Despite careful budgeting, unforeseen and pressing needs inevitably arise. These may include emergency food, health, or other assistance, program expansions, or special opportunities that arise for the children we serve (things like work training programs or special olympics). Our ability to respond to such needs is contingent upon having sufficient general funds readily available.

Responsible Stewardship: We're committed to responsibly managing our finances and ensuring that every dollar is used effectively and efficiently. However, without adequate general funding, we may be forced to delay or forgo important projects and initiatives.

Impactful Programs at Risk: Without sufficient general funding, we face the difficult reality of having to cut back on our programs. This not only jeopardizes the progress we've made but also hinders our ability to serve those who rely on our support the most.
