Hi friends!
In September 2015, I boarded a flight from San Diego and about 24 hours later, I was in the streets of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. I was hot. I was sweaty. I was jetlagged. And I was in a whole different world.
It did not take long for our team to find out why Ethiopia was so special The people laughed, loved, and communicated with us over my favorite love language, coffee. They listened to others well, and were quick to accept the love that Jesus has to offer.
We got to see their faith stories begin during the time we spent with them and it challenged me in my own faith story. We loved and cried with the families and their friends, and learned the meaning of Jesus’s commandment – “Love your neighbor as yourself.”
When I left Ethiopia the first time, I didn’t think I was going to go back. I had been there and done that. There wasn’t really a point for me to go back.
Apparently God had other plans – because the next September, I boarded another flight (this one out of LAX) and 19 hours later, touched down in Addis Ababa. I was still hot. I was still sweaty… and I was extremely jetlagged. But this time, it didn’t feel like a whole different world. It felt familiar and slightly comforting.
I visited the house of a boy and his family, where my heart broke and I deeply loved someone I barely knew in a matter of seconds. I finally had my heart broken for what breaks God's heart, and viewed the love of God in an entirely new way.
Ethiopia is a place of beauty, but it’s also a place of extreme poverty and a bit of lost hope. With only 0.02% of the population knowing the truth of Christ, there is a need for other Christians to go and love on them the way that Jesus loves us.
I thought I was done going to Ethiopia after my first trip. I didn’t know if I was going back after my second. But this letter is a confirmation that I am, in fact, headed back to Ethiopia for the THIRD time in September 2017.
I’m writing to you, dear friend, to see if you will partner with me in three different ways on my third trip to Ethiopia:
COME WITH ME! There is room on the trip for people to join! You can sign up here: http://e3partners.org/trip/amhara-ethiopia-et17d/1441
PLEASE PRAY! The one thing that I need more than anything, but have a hard time asking for, is prayer. Especially during these trips. There is so much spiritual warfare that ensues, and prayer for our team, our families back home, and the people we get to love on is imperative. Also – you can follow our stories on: www.e3iopiamissions.com
CONSIDER DONATING! These trips, unfortunately, are not cheap. The money raised goes towards our flights, hotels and meals, and to help buy chickens for the families we meet. The chickens that we send can provide enough income to a family to get their children off of the street and in school, or in a career where they can grow and flourish. I only need to raise $3,265.00 to go. If you are able to donate, thank you! You can donate above!!
I hope that you will consider my first point, but if now is not the time for you to fly 24 hours across the world, I completely understand. Pray for us, however, as we go on this trip from September 27 – October 7,2017. I cannot wait to see what God has in store when we get there.
xo,
Taylor
