Positioned in the horn of Africa, Ethiopia is one of the continent’s oldest independent nations. It experiences both fertile, mountainous plateaus and drought-prone lowlands. It is most famously known as the birthplace of coffee.
After decades of suffering under communist rule, the Church has forged an unrelenting love for the Gospel and one another. This has laid the groundwork for a strong missionary presence. Still, over 20 million people have never heard the Gospel.
The South Omo Zone is home to approximately 755,000 individuals from diverse cultures and communities, with an estimated 50% practicing traditional religions, often characterized by animistic beliefs.
WHAT WE’RE DOINGThis trip presents a unique opportunity to share the story of Jesus with the Omo people. We are collaborating with local churches that are eager to reach their neighbors and communities.
During this trip, we will visit the Omo people in their homes, sharing Christ's love and encouraging local leaders in their ministries. In addition to bringing the Gospel to the villages, we will also support and disciple existing Christians. As individuals come to faith in Jesus, they will be connected with local pastors who will establish new small groups and churches, ensuring a lasting impact in the region.
