Hey, everybody, Debbie and I are going to have some fun and raise some money for MS research at the same time! Debbie and I will be traversing a "14er" in Colorado this July, Mt. Sherman, and you can donate to MS research in honor of our climb! In addition, I will be racing in the Trifest for MS Triathlon in September, a 2-day event in Bentonville. Help Debbie and me raise much needed funds for MS research by donating to this page. Join "The Team" and we will keep you updated along the way! An added bonus- anything you donate to our fundraiser, we will match! Double the fun, double the donation! Please do what you can! Thank you- God Bless!
My Race Race #1- Debbie and I will be hiking and climbing Mt. Sherman, a 14,200 ft. mountain in Colorado in July. Mt. Sherman is one of the famous "14ers", 52 mountains in Colorado that are over 14,000 in altitude. It is fun, but a great challenge at the same time! We will keep you up-to-date on our training for this event (Lots of hill-climbing around Bentonville).
Race #2- I will compete in the Trifest for MS triathlon in Bentonville in September. I will be doing the "Trifesta", which takes place over 2 days, and involves a Sprint Triathlon, a Super-Spring Triathlon, and a full Olympic Triathlon all in 2 days! I will let you in on some training for this event as the summer continues.
My Story
My story with this event and this cause involves 2 things: 1) Change and 2) Heart
1) Five years ago I saved my health and probably my life by changing the way I lived. I gave up processed food and dairy, found a love for fruit and vegetables, and rediscovered my love for working out through Triathlon training. The races are just OK, but the training is life altering. In the process, I shed over 150 pounds, rid myself of Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, High Cholesterol, sleep apnea, neuropathy, and found vitality again. It is truly a new life!
2) Two years ago, I decided to participate in the Trifest for MS race. The race was fun, but I found something much more- the HEART of the people that made this event go was incredible. Scott and Jo Rampy, the founders, were awe inspiring, but they weren't the only ones! Everyone associated with the race was so upbeat and excited to be there, it made me want to be a part of this organization. Your heart can really change the world!
My Encouragement
I have never done fundraising before with a race, but this event will be a blast. However, my whole purpose in life has always been to positively impact the lives of others, and this event is another living example of what people can do when they have a purpose. I so look forward to the day we can look back and say "this event had a hand in ending MS"!
Dedication
I don't have a story of a relative or loved one that has MS, but I am dedicating this race to our 2 Granddaughters- Cataleya Sofia and Hadley Grace (Hadley will be born in May). My prayer is that they won't have to deal with MS in their lifetime- that their health is blessed and disease-free. I also pray that MS can be eradicated in their lifetime.
