We are going fundracing for MS research! Will you help us bring encouragement to the world of MS and beyond?
My Race Team Steeves (David and Melissa) will be racing TRIFESTA at TRIFEST! We are so exciting that Alivia will be racing this year as well!!!!
My Story
(David)
I have been participating in competitive endurance events
regularly for over four years now, participating in everything from 5K to
marathon distances, including trail and obstacle courses, for running, and
Super Sprint to half iron distances in triathlons. I have always
been an advocate for physical fitness of all types and enjoy helping and
encouraging others as well. This is our second year with Team
Endurance and helping the Rampy Foundation raise funds for MS research.
(Melissa)
About three years ago, I started running (mostly to try and keep up with David)
and eventually completed my first half marathon. Once I finished, I said I
would never do one again… fast forward to today and I completed over 15 half
marathons, numerous 5K’s, trail runs and even a 70.3! I am looking forward to another very active
year with goals on completing at least three triathlons and five half marathons
(and I have already completed one triathlon and one half marathon), with my
eyes set on eventually finishing an Ironman (maybe….)!
My Encouragement
(David) When I was young,
first or second grade maybe, I would occasionally find my way over to the
nearby house of Jim and Lynda Walters after school. My mother was single
at the time and trying to finish her college degree, so my sister and I would
hang out with neighbors, and the Walters seemed to allow us to drop by anytime
they were home. Lynda was diagnosed with MS in 1977 and passed away in
2012. Jim was a loving and dedicated husband throughout her life, always
caring for her every need. I have grown up with a special admiration of
Jim and his selfless service to Lynda. Joining this team and this cause is
just a small way I can pay respect and give back to the Walters and others who
are fighting or have fought this disease.
(Melissa) This is an amazing foundation that supports a great cause. I love
seeing what the organization does for our local community and can't wait to be
a part of it!
Dedication
(David) I dedicate my race to all of the men, women, and children who are unable to participate in activities like these due to physical constraints such as MS, and to the friends and family members who care for them.
(Melissa) I dedicate my race to my daughter, Alivia. Alivia, you can do anything you put your mind to! I love you princess!
About the 2016 Team Endurance for MS
People with MS endure and encourage us onward, despite circumstances. It is our aim that we capture that spirit and share the encouragement forward through participating in endurance events. No matter what brings us to the starting line, we cheer each other to the finish line - in sport, in health and in life.
