As most of you know, I launched a community-giving effort on Facebook a few months ago called, The PixElation Project. Through the support of family and friends, my team of photographer friends and I have been collectively using our talents and resources to bring positive impact to people's lives through the art form of photography. The digital technology has inundated us with countless occasions to take pictures that we sometimes forget the value of this simple memento to others.
The PixElation Project is now a part of Help-Portrait (http://help-portrait.com/about/our-mission/), a non-profit organization involving several photographers who use their expertise, skills and equipment to make a difference in communities worldwide through various causes they support. As a global movement of like-minded photo enthusiasts, we try to find opportunities where we can best use our passion to serve others. The PixElation Project will focus on programs initiated by local agencies and/or church groups that empower families toward self-sufficiency after recovering form their economic circumstances, as well as institutions who are helping children longing desperately to be adopted to find loving homes. We will be hosting at least 3 photo events in the upcoming months to raise awareness and invite local agencies/church groups to participate. Our goal for this project is to raise $500.00 by May 31, 2014.
Here are some links to show you how Help-Portrait works:
Every penny you donate through Pure Charity for The PixElation Project will go primarily
towards funding the cost of printing/imaging/packaging the photo files
which will be delivered to individuals and families who chose to
participate. The photographers offer their services for free and your
donation will be used strictly to cover expenses associated with
producing the images in print and CD formats, e.g. costs of prints and CDs and packaging them for delivery to the recipients.
The
experience of sharing our love of photography and gifting people with professionally edited images
of themselves goes beyond what a Facebook post can achieve. We want the pictures
to mean as much to them as they did for us when they allowed us the privilege
of capturing the moment. This is our way of saying "thank you" to the people who inspire us everyday to find meaning in our lives when we use our gift to help people see hope and beauty in theirs.
Thank you for your generosity in helping us make a difference!
Sincerely,
Minvi
