Hi Friends!
God is so good. I think I often lose sight of that truth and allow myself to believe lies about him. Lies that tell me that living for him is boresome and requires me to forfeit any idea of fun and adventure in my life. Praise God that these things are not true!
Pursuing Christ has been such an adventure and has led me all across the world over the last couple of years, but the journey has not stopped yet!
This July 12-21 I have the opportunity to journey back to the country of Ethiopia with a team of young adults from Watermark Community Church and continue on the mission to make disciples, just as we are called to in Matthew 28:19.
Why Ethiopia?
I had the opportunity to travel with Watermark to Ethiopia in May 2018 and to put it lightly, God rocked my world! I was not experienced in sharing my faith before travelling to Ethiopia last year, but God stretched me and grew me in ways that I never expected. I was able to share the gospel with farmers, merchants, witch doctors, and followers of Islam over the course of a week. Being one of the only two guys on my small team I found myself leading in many conversations. I grew more and more confident with each interaction that the message that I was speaking was truth, and that it is life-giving!
The Lord moved in big ways last year in Ethiopia, and he continues to do so even today! The beautiful thing about this trip is that the discipleship doesn't end when we fly back to America, but men and women on the ground in Africa are constantly following up with those who believed the message. Those who trusted in Jesus for the forgiveness of their sins. Man, God is doing a mighty work through the people in Ethiopia, and I am grateful for the opportunity to partner with them again!
Looking Forward:
I have learned that no two discipleship trips are the same. God more than likely has brand new things in store for our team this time around, and I cannot wait to step into each day there with open arms, ready to move wherever he moves us. God does not need us. He doesn't need me. But when faith is present he will work through anyone. I am not going to be the one to do any significant work during my time in Ethiopia, but I pray that the Lord will work through me as I seek to be faithful.
Please join me in praying for this trip.
- Pray that God would equip the teams to go out and be faithful to him.
- Pray that He would meet our needs financially.
- Pray that he would work in the hearts of the Ethiopians.
- Pray that His name would be glorified through this process.
"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."
- Matthew 28:19-20
