A house is a powerful thing. It's more than just a shelter; it brings dignity, establishes a foundation on which to grow, and provides a place to call "home." A home within a community is perhaps the most effective tool to prevent human trafficking. A home can give a family the boost they need to stay together as they struggle for progress. Many of the widows and vulnerable kids we serve in Jinja and Mayuge, Uganda are without a suitable home.
Project Scope:
This project will provide safe homes for five families in Jinja, Uganda! Each home will be built to include a water collection system and a solar lighting system. When each family moves in, they will receive a "housewarming gift," such as chickens, goats, coffee plants, etc., that serves as a development investment to improve their quality of life or income. These homes will help families kick-start into long-term stability and independence! As always, we will use local Ugandan laborers and materials to build the homes, which will create jobs so local workers can provide for their families and fuel economic growth.
The total cost to provide a secure home and a bright future for 5 families is $34,000. Partner with us to see these families empowered and their community transformed!
