What
A bike fundraiser to raise money to feed the kids that live in the garbage dump in Nakuru, Kenya. Because of the impact COVID has had on their community, people have no food. We can buy them nutritious meals at only $0.15 each.
Why
To bless children who live in a world so different from our own, where the everyday comforts we enjoy aren’t available to them. To love them like Christ by providing healthy meals to sustain them, just as Christ fed the 5,000 and called the little children to come to Him.
How
By participants biking and raising money through sponsorships for the meals
By non-participants raising money for meals through donations
By donating through Pure Charity
By sponsoring a child through Living Stone Global Foundations for about $30/month https://www.livingstoneglobal.org
By volunteering to help with the Bike Event

Last fall, I did something I'd always dreamed of - I went to Africa.
I volunteered at a school called the Maisha Mapya Learning Center in Nakuru. The most beautiful thing about the school was the 200 children that walked through the Maisha Mapya gates every morning for school.
The most difficult thing was that every evening, they returned to their homes which were located in a challenging and sometimes unsafe environment - the local dumpsite.
Let me tell you about one of my favorite memories. It was a sunny day at 10 o'clock and it was time for porridge. (For many of the children, it is their first meal of the day.)
While the children were in line for food, I grabbed my guitar and sat down in the grass by the kitchen.
What happened next almost made me cry….
I started playing a song I had taught the kids. SO many kids ran over and sat close by my feet.
After a couple minutes, there were about 30 kids around me with cups of porridge in their hands - pushing to get closer. Others were trying to touch the guitar with their sticky fingers. For some, this was the first time they had ever seen a guitar. One little girl was getting pushed out of the circle, I stopped playing.
"Hey, let's be kind, no pushing,...let her come closer."
I could imagine Jesus saying these very words: “Let the children alone, and do not hinder them from coming to Me; for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Matthew 19:14 It was a beautiful moment to hear these children singing!....
Jesus tells the children to COME; they are precious in His eyes, heart and soul, and if they are precious to Him....then they are precious to me too! This is why I now sponsor a little girl from the dump site to help her attend school.
What breaks me is that many children in Nakuru, Kenya, between the ages of 11 and 18, are forced into transactional sex to get money for food! No one should have to live and be treated that way!
Today, I am inviting you to come, join me, and love these children and their families by providing some much-needed food. COVID has hit the community hard. All the hotels and restaurants are closed, so there is no trash being taken to the dumpsite. Everything that sustains the families comes from the garbage. Without trash being brought to the dumpsite, these precious kids have no food to eat.
We want to feed this community and their families. So we are hosting a bike race! This bike race will raise support to provide nutrition-packed meals at a cost of only $0.15 each!
Think about that!? For the cost of a burrito and a coke, you can buy 65 meals for hungry kids in Nakuru.
Will you help me feed them?
Full tummies, full hearts.
