The Refuge Initiative was developed in order to meet the growing needs stemming from ISIS advances in Northern Iraq and Syria. We build communities of hope by providing actual homes and land for refugees in partnership with the local government; come alongside each refugee family through sponsorship programs in the West (www.sponsorarefugee.com); and restore dignity by building pathways back to independent living through our refugee school and vocational training center called, the Refuge.  

World Orphans has two missionary families living in Northern Iraq who are implementing and overseeing the initiative.
