March 17-March 28, 2017
This spring break I have the wonderful opportunity to participate in a mission trip to Zimbabwe with Loma Linda University. As many of you know, I'm currently completing a Master of Public Health in Nutrition and this trip is where the rubber meets the road. I'm finally able to apply and expand the knowledge I've been gaining in the classroom in a very practical way.
Our team will be working alongside local healthcare professionals to provide health education and assessment in Zimbabwe. This will be accomplished through a variety of methods including health fairs, workshops, and training sessions. In the end, the locals will be more empowered to effectively meet the community's physical, mental, and spiritual needs.
As I seek to lend a helping hand to those in need, I petition your prayers because "prayer is heaven's ordained means of success" (Acts of the Apostles, 564). It's my goal to not merely provide physical healing, but also spiritually healing, and such an effort will only succeed when seeking Heaven's wisdom.
Another great way to help is supporting financially. When you do, 4 things will happen:
1. Individuals in Zimbabwe will have the opportunity to see the gospel in action.
2. Locals will learn how to continue the work, potentially having exponential impact.
3. I will be blessed with the opportunity to serve others and teach what God has allowed me to learn.
4. You will be blessed by forming a copartnership with Christ! Ellen White says that "self-denial will bring into the treasury of God the means necessary to advance His work. Thus we may act in copartnership with Christ" (In Heavenly Places, 300).
