Greetings from David and Aimee Pawluk,
The purpose of this Giving Circle is to fund trips and causes that fulfill our Lord’s commission as given to His disciples in Matthew 28:19.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit”
As individuals we both grew up in Bible believing households, and as individuals we both rebelled against our upbringings in many ways. We walked through this world with the knowledge of our Lord Jesus but without a heart open to following His will and commandments. Even after meeting and marrying, when we started our lives together once again following after our Lord, we eventually wandered away. We, like many, believed we were an island; we knew the Lord and didn’t need the facets of “organized religion”. We didn’t need the hassle of Churches full of people wrapped in the trappings of Cultural Christianity. Out of fellowship and out of touch we floundered in our faith and were as lost as we had been as individual teenagers rebelling against our upbringings. In this time Jesus opened our hearts and our eyes, and the words to the Church in Laodicea rang deep within our fearful souls, “I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.” (Rev 3:15- 16). As with the prodigal son, through our travails we found our way home once again.
Over the past couple of years a burden began to be placed on my wife’s heart for the Persecuted Church, and as she grew closer once again to God this burden increased. She took a faithful step outside of her comfort zone and pursued the path of becoming a Church Voice for Voice of the Martyrs, bringing an awareness of what our Brothers and Sisters throughout the world are enduring in the name of Christ. This also led her to be called to go, to help bring the light into the darkness. As well as bringing back a perspective to those of us who live in the comfort of our own fortune here in America, a perspective from the Brothers and Sisters serving the Middle East. People who live out the faith they have been given and take God's love into the most needed places on this Earth. She went and visited with the Syrian refugees, she heard their stories of pain and loss, unimaginable things to us here in the safety of the west, and through her and the team she was with, God helped in bringing them hope. Hope of something more than the shadow of oppression they have dwelt in since birth. Jesus brought my wife home with a deeper understanding and desire for the purpose of reaching people lost to the darkness.
As a couple we have chosen to follow the call of our Lord in this, and the Giving Circle was created to help support that call. Jesus told his disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”” (Matt 9:37-38). The harvest is plentiful in the Middle East, and even through the most unthinkable horrors men can inflict upon each other the Lord can turn it for His good. We are thankful to all who feel led to assist us in this and future trips, but mostly we need prayer. Prayer that we remain steadfast in looking to our Lord Jesus for guidance and strength, prayer for those already out there bringing God's love to the lost, and prayer for those struggling to find the truth, that their hearts may be opened to the wonder and saving grace of Jesus.
