At the end of the month of April, Blogger Jill Filipovic, who writes for the blog
Feminste, which is one of the oldest feministe blogs on the internet. The blog is designed and run by women from the ground up and addresses all kinds of international issues relating to women.
In Haiti, the devastating earthquake in 2010 is not the only disaster that the country is reeling from. There is another story about tragedy and it relates to the social problems Haitian women have faced for decades. If the country hopes to recover and rebuild following the earthquake it will require attention to women's rights in the country.
Fortunately, the building of the community center will not only address issues of development and economic empowerment but will also provide new opportunities that support women's rights in the country. These include prospects for educational advancement and the access to a day care center which allows for women to pursue prosperity.
It is issues like these that Jill will be investigating during her trip to Haiti.
