Next February, I will be part of an amazing team of 13 women embarking on a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to trek up to 19,341ft. for children in Rwanda. Why? Because after I visited Rwanda in June 2018, my heart was swept away by “the land of a thousand hills," and I want nothing less than to help give back in every way possible. This mountain adventure is out of my wheelhouse, but my passion for Africa New Life and meeting the need to feed children moves me to be courageous to serve children at Africa New Life!
Our family proudly sponsors Tierry, a student in Rwanda. Meeting him was unlike anything I’ve experienced! Hearing his life story, meeting his family, being able to look into his eyes and reaffirm that he is loved, cherished, and valued was breathtaking!! He and all the children I met were no different than mine or your children --- they laugh, have dreams, fears, ambitions, and want to be loved. Their potential is huge, and it’s a privilege to help in such a simple way as feeding them a meal for today so their tomorrow can flourish.
Our Kilimanjaro 2020 team will help raise support and awareness for Africa New Life's Food Program! With a team goal of $170,000 they will be able to provide more than 200,000 meals for kids in Rwanda.
Meet our team of 13 courageous women: Tanna (team leader), Charlotte, Jordan, Brooke, Ashleigh, Leslie, Anne, Char, Michelle, Jackie, Alisha, Renate and Judy!
Africa New Life's Food Program helps to provide school lunches to children in Rwanda who otherwise would get little or no food to eat. These children work hard and are dedicated to doing well in school so they can improve their families' situations and give back to their country when they grow up. But it’s hard to learn or grow without food!
An average meal in Rwanda costs $0.83, which means $25 provides food for a child for a month (30 meals). Feeding children and families is an extension of the gospel and provides students the stability and consistent nutrition necessary to complete their education.
