Hello friends,
We have an update on our adoption status. I just looked on here and realized that we never submitted an update on this platform since about a year ago. You most likely heard in other places but the birth mom with whom we were matched last year decided to parent right before the baby was born. As you can imagine, last January/February was a difficult season for us. We were honestly very thankful that this mom had clarity and made this difficult decision and at the same time heart-broken and confused on what that meant for us. This last year was full of faith, healing, and seeking God's direction for our family.

Just last month, we decided it was time to let other things fill the space we were reserving for adoption. We redecorated the nursery that has been in our home for the last year into an office space. We decided to pursue some hobbies, and Kelly even went back to work. We weren't deciding to be done with adoption but we just felt like we needed to live a little in the meantime and to pursue other things instead of just waiting and wondering.

Well, last week we received a call about another expectant mom and we are matched again through that same agency in Florida. This baby has a due date of February 12th. We are excited and yet still somewhat guarded since we don't know what will happen. The expectant mom cannot waive parental rights until 48 hrs after birth so there is always a chance that she would change her mind. Still, this is an exciting time!

Since it is with the same agency as last time, a lot of what we paid before will transfer over to this new adoption. Between what has already been paid to the agency, what is left in our account on this site, and what we have personally saved, we only need about $13,000 to finalize everything and nothing will need to be paid until the baby is born and the papers are signed so there is no risk to lose funds.

We have found several foundations that give grants to adoptive families so we are diligently applying for those this week. We are hoping to cover the remaining $13,000 via these potential grants. Please pray for that! If it came down to it, and you were wanting to give to help bring this baby home, we will update on this page to let you know of the need. If you want to let us know via email about a "pledge" or something of that nature you could do that.
