I'd like to share some exciting news with you! I've been given the opportunity to join a Hear the Cry team traveling to Fortaleza, the capital city of Ceará, in Brazil. On May 21st, 2020 my team and I will go down to surprise a family in need by building them a new home! Here’s some of the backstory to fill you in …

About a year ago, Hear the Cry had a scout team in Brazil that met a girl named Maria while in Fortaleza. It was discovered that her 12th birthday would take place before their departure and they also learned Maria had never had a party, received presents or had a birthday cake … so they changed that. Talk about the best, loudest, happiest birthday ever! Through this the team learned that Maria lives with 11 other family members in a collapsing mud/stick house. It’s common for them to be stung by wasps at night while they sleep, and their dirt floor is frequently flooded by torrential downpours because of their close proximity to the Amazon rainforest.

Not awesome, but an easy fix for us, and this where I'm asking for your help. With your support our team will build a large structure that will be used primarily for sleeping with the kitchen and bathrooms right outside. It will have concrete floors, brick and mortar walls and a clay shingle roof. Here are a few ways you can support this project.

First, I ask that you pray for our team. Specifically, for continued good health and team unity throughout our mission. Secondly, that you would prayerfully consider contributing towards this campaign. Each of us were asked to raise $3,200.00 to cover airfare, food, lodging, insurance, ground transportation, and building supplies. Any and all monetary contributions are so greatly appreciated, and truly no donation is too small. Seriously! Take this for example, let's say each of my Instagram followers skipped a coffee between now and May 7th and instead donate $3 each, that would account for 95% of the $1,735.00 remaining. It all makes an impact and I would love to partner with you in this project. Lastly, it would be a great help if you'd share my fundraiser on your social media account(s) to help spread the word of the impact this project will have. 

Through your continued support Hear the Cry is able to partner with nonprofits working hard all over the world. When not building, our team will spend time with existing local partners in Brazil.
