In keeping with ForgottenSong's goal of sustainability and reproducibility, we have a goal to expand our already sucessful Dohuk preschool into Baghdad within the year
In keeping with its mission, ForgottenSong Inc. successfully established an early childhood education center in Dohuk, Iraq. Aptly named the “Angels of Dohuk,” the self-sustaining center provides single mothers and refugee families with subsidized childcare so that the women are able to pursue gainful employment with excellent childcare...all without a continued foreign dependence of any kind. This solves the problem of single mothers and refugees not being able to work because they can not afford childcare, and not being able to afford childcare because they can not work. Officially opened in August of 2012, the center now serves over 20 children and the growth has been unprecedented. The government of Northern Iraq even contacted our director to emphasize that they have never seen an school grow so rapidly in such little time.
With this project, we seem to have tapped into a very successful, very easily reproducible business model, primed for sustainability and service to the community. The idea now is to expand. We hope that within the next 18 months, we will have reproduced models in both Baghdad and Syria.
