Aceka Jesse Shadrack was welcomed into Otino Waa Children's Village in January 2026. Jesse is the last born in a family of five children and is a partial orphan, having lost his father to HIV/AIDS. His mother, who is currently living with HIV/AIDS, is frequently ill and faces significant challenges in providing adequate care and support for the family. Due to her poor health and the family's limited resources, meeting the children's basic needs has been very difficult. On the day we picked Jesse up to come to Otino Waa, he was wearing an old white t-shirt full of holes. Once told that he was joining Otino Waa, his family told him to put on his best clothes. Jesse then changed into a long sleeved white shirt, with equally as many holes, and carried his other tattered shirt in a little plastic bag. Jesse is now part of a house of boys at Otino Waa and attending school, eating 3 solid meals a day, and living in a clean, secure home.
