Alaba Aliyi was in the fifth group of Community Based Care (CBC) students in Ethiopia, joining PATH in 2025 at the age of 10, living in Chiro with her mother. At the time, Alaba was enrolled in Grade 1 at Elemo Qultuu School. She enjoys playing soccer with her friends, and when she grows up, she hopes to become an engineer.
Alaba's mother, Hindi Abdela Ali, entered the program at 37 years old at the age, was divorced and has no formal education. She currently works by washing clothes and occasionally selling chat in order to support her children. The family lives in a rented government mud house that is in poor condition. Through PATH, Hindi will receive business training and seed money to begin her own income generating activity and work toward greater stability for her family.
