Barkot was born in 2014. He joined the PATH International Community Based Care Program in 2024.

Barkot was in the fourth group of Community Based Care (CBC) students in Ethiopia, joining PATH in 2024. He was 10 years old when he joined PATH, and he lives with his mother and two siblings. At school, Barkot enjoys learning English and Math as well as playing soccer, and he hopes to be an engineer when he grows up. His mom, Tigist Beyen entered the PATH program at 38 years old with only a high school education. She currently works as a waitress to bring an income for her family, and she is hopeful to receive business training from PATH in order to begin her own income generating activity.
