Ebong Joshua joined Otino Waa Children's Village in January 2026. Joshua is the third born in a family of five children and is a partial orphan. His father passed away after a wrong dental procedure resulted in severe and continuous bleeding. They live in a small, rural village and did not have access to the medical care needed to save his life. Since then, Joshua has been living with his mother, who is emotionally affected by the loss of her husband and struggles to provide enough food for the children. Due to her vulnerable condition and limited resources, she has struggled to adequately support the children. On the day we arrived to pick up Joshua and bring him to Otino Waa, we reached his home around 2pm. There were over 10 children on the compound, none of them had eaten anything that day, with little hope of a meal that night. Given his vulnerable situation, Joshua was admitted into the residential program.
