George Otieno was born February 15th, 2013. He joined CGA Preprimary class in January 2019. He is the first born of two children. His mother is a widow and works as a casual sales lady at a certain shoe shop at the market. She is on daily medication under a government support program. They live in a traditional home set up in a small temporary one roomed house with very limited furniture. They have no electricity or running water. They use paraffin or solar for lighting and do their cleaning at the lake. They treat lake water for drinking and cooking. They use paraffin stove or charcoal for cooking. George shares the bed with his mother and younger sister. He is an outgoing boy and we trust he will do well at CGA. 2020 Update: This is George's second year in CGA. He successfully completed his ECD class in 2019 and was promoted to grade one this year. His class teacher is still getting to know him but so far he has realized that George is very talkative in class and needs a lot of control and he is helping him in that area. Otherwise he participates well in all the classes. His mother no longer sells shoes because her employer died and so she lost her job. She is currently learning to do fish mongering like other mamas of our children in order to support him and his younger sibling sister. His sister Harriet is in Pre-primary class and he enjoys walking to school with her. 2023 Update: George is a fourth grader now.  He is an average performing student, however outgoing and very active in co-curricular activities. They moved from their paternal home to a newly built one-room tin house a little bit further from CGA. The mother is no longer a sales lady.  Instead she sells fish.
