Hasanat Abdulaziz was in the fifth group of Community Based Care (CBC) students in Ethiopia, joining PATH in 2025 at the age of 7, living in Chiro with her adoptive mother and three sisters. At the time, Hasanat was enrolled in Grade 1 at Elemo Qultuu School. At school, she enjoys learning Afan Oromo and especially likes playing jump rope with her friends. When she grows up, Hasanat hopes to become a doctor.
Hasanat's adoptive mother, Zara Mohammed, entered the program at 48 years old with an elementary education at the age of currently unemployed and relies on neighborhood support to help meet household needs. The family lives in a government-owned house built of hollow block that is currently in habitable condition. Through PATH, Zara will receive business training and seed money to begin her own income generating activity and strengthen the family's financial stability.
