Jaalataa Karjul was in the third group of Community Based Care (CBC) students in Ethiopia, joining PATH in 2023. He was 10 when he joined PATH, and he is the eldest child of three, living with his two younger sisters. Jaalataa enjoys studying science in school, and he hopes to become an engineer when he grows up. His mother, Aasha Amanti, came into the program at 35 with no former education. Aasha currently makes and sells a local staple food called Injera, and after receiving PATH's business training, she hopes to expand her business to include raising livestock and also selling spices.
