Josue was born on September 12, 2002. Although both his parents are alive, they are simply unable to provide for his basic needs. This harsh reality is all too common for the children of Haiti. Josue comes from a family of three brothers and one sister. As the second youngest child in his family, his parents felt it was necessary for him to have the opportunity for a better life. With no hope of education or a future, his parents were faced with a decision that would not only change Josue’s life, but their family’s life as well.

Even though his family would be separated, with the hope of a better life in mind, and with the opportunity to receive an education, his parents brought him to Chanje Lakay. Thankfully, Josue was not brought alone. His parents also brought along his sister, Alexandra, to live at the shelter as well. Today, Josue is happy and healthy and he is able to see his parents often.
