Linet Achieng was born on March 3rd, 2008. She joined CGA Grade Three In January 2019. She is the third child of four siblings. Her father died and so it was hard for her mother to raise enough support to bring them up. Linet was then sent to Mbita to live with a distant relative. She started going to a public school within the community. They live on the other side of the hill about thirty minutes walk to CGA. It is in a traditional set up. The father of the home has several wives. Linet is under the custody of the third wife. They operate from the eldest’s wife’s house. It is a two bed roomed permanent house with a spacious living room. Linet shares a bed with other children in the house. They have no electricity or running water. They use paraffin for lighting and draw water from the lake for use at home. They treat their drinking water. They use firewood for cooking. Linet is a strong girl. She helps with house chores and at times when not in school she accompanies her guardian to the farm. She did well on her CGA entry test and we trust she will do better now that she is at CGA. 2020 Update: This is Linet's second year at CGA and she is in grade four. She has settled well both at home and at CGA. Her teacher says that she is working hard in her studies. She is shy but loving. Her care giver is fond of her. She says Linet is a great help to her when she is at home. She is very obedient and respectful. Linet likes to smile and she is happy to be in CGA. 2021 Update: Linet's guardian has built a permanent house, and they've moved into their new house. Meanwhile, the guardian has a new grandchild. 2023 Update: Linet joined Junior Secondary in early 2023, and performs averagely in class.  Linet is soft spoken and a humble girl. Her aunt who has been sick is doing better. In August 2023, Linet's guardian succumbed to cancer. She is currently under the care of her former guardian's son and daughter-in-law. 2025 Update: Linet Achieng is currently in grade nine.  Linet’s academic performance is above average, and she is known for being disciplined and polite. She now lives with a new guardian, a teacher at a nearby primary school. Their home is approximately a 25-minute walk from the school.
