Lousemie Joseph
13 years old Female Haiti
Lousemie was born on December 12, 2010 in a town called Mirebalais, located in the mountains of Haiti. Lousemie is the youngest of her 4 siblings. She has three brothers and one sister, Naika, who lives with her at Chanje Lakay. Despite the fact that both her parents are still alive, Lousemie and her sister Naika, are considered economic orphans. Due to financial hardship, her parents are physically unable to provide for her basic needs or afforded her education. Because of these circumstances, her cousin Laconte felt it was necessary to bring her to Chanje Lakay.
Laconte is familiar with Chanje's ministry in Haiti and knew of our intentions in opening a shelter. He initially brought Lousemie’s older sister Naika to live at Chanje Lakay in hopes that her life, as well as her family's lives would prosper. After nearly two years however, Laconte recognized that Lousemie’s conditions had not changed and she needed to be with her sister at Chanje Lakay. At that time in the summer of 2015, Lousemie was one of the youngest girls living at the shelter. Today, Lousemie is happy and healthy. She is sweet and loving and loves to laugh!
