Macho Kiyar was in the fifth group of Community Based Care (CBC) students in Ethiopia, joining PATH in 2025 at the age of 13, living in Chiro with his grandmother, one brother, and two sisters. At the time, Macho was enrolled in Grade 7 at Elemo Qultuu School. At school, he enjoys learning Science and especially likes playing soccer with his friends. When he grows up, Macho hopes to become a pilot.
Macho's grandmother, Hindi Mamad, entered the program at 50 years old with an elementary education. She supports the family by working as a daily laborer. The family lives in a government-owned mud house that is currently in poor condition. Through PATH, Hindi will receive business training and seed money to begin a more sustainable income generating activity and strengthen the family's economic stability.
