Mistir Getachew was in the fifth group of Community Based Care (CBC) students in Ethiopia, joining PATH in 2025 at the age of 7, living in Chiro with her mother, one brother, and three sisters. At the time, Mistir was enrolled in Grade 1 at Elemo Qultuu School. At school, she enjoys learning Math and especially likes playing jump rope with her friends. When she grows up, Mistir hopes to become a doctor.
Mistir's mother, Saba Getachew, entered the program at 35 years old with an elementary education. She supports her children by selling biscuits and distributing staple foods. The family lives in a rented government-owned mud house that is currently in poor condition. Through PATH, Saba will receive business training and seed money to strengthen her income generating activities and improve the family's economic stability.
