Peter Ochieng and his three siblings live with their physically challenged paternal grandmother. Their father is physically challenged due to contracting polio as a young child. They live about an hour’s walk from CGA.
Peter Ochieng was born on March 29th, 2018. He will join Pre-Primary 1 in January 2025. Peter has both parents; however, his father suffered from polio while a young child which left him physically challenged. He does fishing and lives with his wife away from Mbita. Peter currently lives with his paternal grandmother, who is also physically challenged after suffering burn contractures on both feet. Peter lives with three of his siblings under the care of his grandmother. They live in a permanent house about an hour’s walk from CGA. They fetch water from a nearby river for cooking and cleaning or sometimes walk for half an hour to the lake. They use Solar for lighting and firewood for cooking. Peter sleeps on a bed and mattress under a mosquito net. The grandmother is grateful for the opportunity her grandson has secured at CGA.
