Rayan Mamed was in the fifth group of Community Based Care (CBC) students in Ethiopia, joining PATH in 2025 at the age of 9, living in Chiro with his mother, four brothers, and three sisters. At the time, Rayan was enrolled in Grade 3 at Elemo Qultuu School. At school, he enjoys learning English and especially likes playing soccer with his friends. When he grows up, Rayan hopes to become a doctor.
Rayan's mother, Maryam Aliyi, entered the program at 32 years old. She supports her children by washing clothes for others. The family lives in a government-owned mud house that is currently in poor condition. Through PATH, Maryam will receive business training and seed money to begin a more sustainable income generating activity and strengthen the family's economic stability.
