Sekina was born in 2011. She joined the PATH International Community Based Care Program in 2024.

Sekina Shemsu was in the fourth group of Community Based Care (CBC) students in Ethiopia, joining PATH in 2024. She was 13 years old when she joined PATH, and she lives with her mother and four siblings. At school, Sekina enjoys Math and Amharic, and she hopes to be a doctor when she grows up. Her mom, Hayat Mohamed, came into the program at 35 years old with no educational background. She currently works as a vegetable seller in the marker to bring in an income for her family, and she is hopeful to receive business training from PATH in order to begin her own income generating activity.
