We are in country and we are happy to announce that we have a fully-funded adoption! We have been overseas since March 2nd and have visited S. at the orphanage multiple times. We are happy to report that our new family hit it off well. He is a spectacular kid who is ready to have his own family for the first time in his 16 years. Our court date is March 27th and, after taking care of some odds and ends, we will be back in the States around April 7th - all three of us.
While we've been away, we've had friends taking care of our house and animals (3 dogs and a cat), we've had a team (which included many of my co-workers and family members) build a wheelchair ramp, and friends coming together to paint S's room - now that we know the color he wants: light green to match the room at the orphanage that he is leaving.
Thank you to all who have donated, shared, prayed and supported us (or any adoptive families/orphans anywhere for that matter!) Our son would not have a family without your financial support. Many adoptions that would or could take place do not take place due to upfront financial burden. Fees and financial due dates vary with the type and location of adoption that is taking place, but money is a main hurdle in the adoption process - especially for families choosing to bring a special needs child into their home.
Thank you again and we will post again once S is home for good with us!
