by Karen Blake 1 Lives Impacted Ukraine
Hello everyone! We are trying to bring home a special needs child from the Ukraine. His name is Simon and he almost 16. We love the idea of ...
We are in country and we are happy to announce that we have a fully-funded adoption! We have been overseas since March 2nd and have visited S. at the orphanage multiple times. We are happy to report that our new family hit it off well. He is a spectacular kid who is ready to have his own family for the first time in his 16 years. Our court date is March 27th and, after taking care of some o...
Our plane tickets are purchased - our bags are almost packed - our nerves are shot! We hope on a plane to go get Simon on March 1st. I do need to adjust the amount we need - at this very moment in time we need 7885.25 to be fully funded...meaning we can travel across the world to get our son without falling into crazy amounts of debt. This will be important as we are unsure of his medical ne...
Our adoption facilitator turned in all our translated documents on December 5th. Yesterday we received word that we are now officially adoptive candidates in the Ukraine. We will know our travel dates by the end of the month!
I had to write an update today! We sat down today with a notary and had all our documents notarized. Tomorrow, Wes is heading to the Secretary of State to get everything apostilled (basically a second verification that the documents are authentic) and then we mail everything to Ukraine. We'll wait up to six week before hearing that we are approved (we just have to be!) and we will receive tr...
We are excited to share that we have received our approval from the Department of Immigration and Citizenship! All the paperwork that needed to be filed before Simon turned 16 has been completed. In fact, he recently turned 16 and he will soon know that we are coming to get him! We are so close. Now, we have ONE more document to get and then we take a trip to the notary and then to the Secr...
Hello! We are excited to share that the Home Study has in fact been finalized and paperwork has been turned in to the US government. Now, we continue to compile our dossier, which is basically paperwork needed to turn into the Ukraine government that provides details about our family. Our goal this week is to have that dossier completely done, or at least almost done. After that...we wait! W...
We received the draft of our home study in the mail over the weekend. That was exciting. The HS process wasn't bad at all...and to think that was one factor holding us back from adopting. It is done and we are now filing the necessary paperwork that must be completed before Simon turns 16. We are excited to be the featured family on the Give1Save1 blog this coming week. They have partnered...
We are learning more about Sergey through people who have met him or have been involved with the Reece's Rainbow Adoption Ministry in some way. We are learning just how many people love this boy and who are excited to see that his family has found him! Comments on our blog posts, conversations on Facebook, and other avenues prove to us how many people have been working for Sergey's adoption l...
