Well...after a VERY long wait we finally got the signature we had been waiting for!!!!
Which means we finally have our official referral.
After knowing our sweet girl for over a year...and 9 months into our adoption process...she is one step closer to having our last name!!
All of this news came with a couple bummers.
First, when looking over the referral documents we noticed that "C"s birth date was incorrect. We brought this to the attention of our case worker and were told that, unfortunately they can not request a court date for us until this is corrected. This is were the second bummer comes in. The courts in Ghana close for the months of August and September. It is absolutely gut wrenching to be so close...yet so far away.
We are disappointed...and yet we know that God has all the details worked out...and this is just as it should be.
We are $1650 short of meeting our final agency/country fee which is due when we accept our referral, which will be as soon as the document is corrected.
Then we will be focusing on fundraising for our travel expenses.
We will have to travel in October for our court date...and then again [we hope in December] to bring our sweet girl home :]
Our Pure Charity page will be open for donations until we are fully funded.
We have one grant application out right now that we will hear about soon.
We have two grants that we can apply for now that we have our referral.
And...we are working out the details for a fundraiser breakfast or dinner or maybe breakfast for dinner? We are hoping to wait till Tatelynn is home from Ghana so that she can be a part of this event as well.
So...be on the look out for more information about this event.
Also, please join us in prayer over the document that needs to be corrected. It is a bit more complicated than just changing a date and involves more signatures...but we are hopeful that is will be corrected in a timely fashion and without a hitch.
