We are the VanKoevering Family.Currently we are a family of 5 [Dad - Cam, Mom - Shannon and 3 beautiful girls, Tate, Quinn & Haidyn] We are exc...
Well...on Monday morning the call we have been waiting for came.
We are going to Ghana...TOMORROW!!! [August 9]
I don't really remember much of Monday...it is a blur.
We needed to get our visa applications sent out so I focused on that.
They were over-nighted to the Consulate of Ghana in Houston Texas...
[and on Wednesday morning prior to 930am they were in our hands]
Next came flights. I emailed the travel agent who got back with me quickly with an option...after the sticker shock [what can I expect when I want to leave in 5 day]. And after confirmation that we indeed have a court date the tickets have been purchased...there is an amazing story that goes along with this that I will share in a bit.
Next...a place to lay our heads. We had hoped to be able to stay at the guest house that is being run by the directors of HOMe. It is VERY reasonable...and we would be with people who know Ghana. But...God had different plans...there is no room in that Inn so we began the search for different accommodations. In rides Tatelynn on a white horse :] She enlisted the help of some of her Ghanaian friends at City of Refuge and they hooked us up good! You see it is very difficult to find a nice, safe, reasonable place to stay in another country when you have no clue where the nice, safe, reasonable places are located. [we are loving Stanley right now and his help in the accommodations arena...I will indeed be hugging him when we meet]
So...we have a court date.
August 14th.
We have flights.
leaving on Saturday evening.
We have a place to lay our heads.
It looks nice in the pictures so may it be safe & nice!
Now for a story. Tuesday morning at work my anxiety was at an all time high. We had no flights, no hotel and I was waiting for the word from our case worker that our court date was confirmed.
Seeing my anxiety my amazing coworker stopped to say a prayer for me, during which she specifically asked for "discounted tickets".
Within 30 minutes I got the call.
"Court date confirmed. Book flight."
I emailed our travel agent...who immediately emailed me back "WE NEED TO HAVE YOU CALL OUR OFFICE ASAP!! THIS FARE IS LOWER" I walked right out and gave my coworker the news...and we had a little celebration!!
Why do I doudt?
Why do I have fear?
So, here we are Friday night.
the front living room has again become the Ghana stageing grounds [5 weeks ago it was filled with Tate & Tiarra's suitcases and such].
I will admit that there is not one thing packed just yet. But I have all day tomorrow for that.
We ask for your prayers while we travel, that our sweet girl will do well with the craziness of next week, and that we will have a favorable court ruling.
I can not wait to share a picture [and name] of our precious daughter!!
Just two more sleeps and my feet will be in Africa!!
What a mighty God we serve!!
