This expedition will take you to the coast of Africa’s largest lake, Lake Victoria. Myambeno is in the Mara region of Tanzania. It is a beautiful area of Africa and is very near the well-known Seregeti National Park. African colonization in the late 1800's led to the partitioning of this region into the countries of Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. Tribes and families were forcefully split apart, creating ethnic division and distress. Today, as these countries come together in partnership, healing is taking place among the Kuria, Jita, and Jaluos peoples.
Crop production, livestock, and fishing are essential to the area’s economy. Although there are some churches in the populated towns, many in the villages and rural areas have never heard the Gospel! Traditional religion, rooted in ancestral worship and witchcraft, still has a grasp on much of the population. The price to follow Jesus Christ is often high in this part of the world. Many new believers are forced from their families and their villages.
The Mission:
The goal of this expedition is to find, lead, and disciple local believers who will be willing to spread the Gospel, disciple those who are ready to follow Jesus, and serve in the new church(es) that will, Lord willing, be planted in their area. Through home-to-home evangelism and small groups, we will connect with individuals who have the potential to influence their community. Once we have left the region, these local partners will continue to disciple emerging leaders and new believers.
In just one week, you can take a leap of faith, share the Gospel with dozens of people, and fuel a Gospel movement that outlives your time on this Earth!
Have you always wanted to participate in something outside of your comfort zone? If so, then let’s go!
This expedition is labeled “extreme,” as we will be setting up camp in the local village, sleeping in tents, and sharing meals in the open air. There’s really nothing like it!
