I am delighted to share that I have recently accepted a 12-month position with International Justice Mission (IJM).  IJM is a faith based organization focused on bringing justice to millions of people who are unprotected from slavery and trafficking, violence against women and children, and police abuse and power. Their model of protection involves partnering with local justice systems through strengthening the system, bringing criminals to justice, rescue and restoration of victims and to scale the demand for protection.

 From September 2023 – August 2024, I will be working on the Aftercare team in Manila, Philippines. IJM's team in the Philippines focuses primarily on combatting Online Sexual Exploitation of Children (OSEC). This despicable crime involves the abuse of children, from infancy through adulthood, through forced sexual acts or the recording of adults sexually abusing children. These acts are then sold as images or streamed live with online perpetrators sometimes directing or guiding the abuse. Consequently, the resulting images involving younger children are more severe and disturbing in nature. My team steps in as soon as these children are rescued from OSEC, surrounding them with therapeutic relationships, counseling, caseworkers, and establishing a safe and loving home environment.

 Many years ago, I uttered a prayer asking God to afflict my heart with what breaks His own. A burden lies in witnessing the suffering and powerlessness of children. In response to this burden, my aim is to provide children with a safe space to explore and reevaluate the impact of trauma and negative attachment dynamics. In the past several years I have sought education and professional experience to support my passion. This includes a graduate degree in Human Services specializing in Trauma and Crisis Counseling, along with professional experience as a child protection services worker and time spent working in residential facilities for children aged between 6 and 18 years.

To raise the necessary funds for this mission, I have initiated a fundraiser on Pure Charity. My goal is to raise a total of $32,300 through one-time single donations and recurring donations. The support will be used for international travel and living expenses. It has been my lifelong dream to embark on this service, and I sincerely hope that you will consider joining me on this journey.
