I am excited to announce that I will be serving as a Fellow with IJM’s Interns and Fellows Program in Peru this upcoming year whose mission is to end sexual violence against women and children in South America. 

I'm so excited for this opportunity to help others and to work alongside IJM in Peru to strengthen their justice system, educate and equip communities to protect their citizens, and restore victims to safety as a Survivor Network Fellow and would like to invite you to share in this excitement with me!

International Justice Mission (IJM) is a human rights agency whose mission is to protect people from violent forces of injustice by securing rescue and restoration for victims and ensuring public justice systems work for the poor. IJM Peru is one of the newest branches of the organization and is dedicated to strengthening the Peruvian justice systems response towards violence against women and children (VAWC), relieving and restoring victims to safety and stability, bringing criminals to justice, and equipping communities with the resources to stop the cycle of sexual violence.

I will be joining the IJM Peru Team as a Survivor Network Fellow. In this past year, IJM Peru has engaged with local partners, survivors of violence and authorities, and worked to provide them with the tools to create protective environments where women and children can thrive. As a Survivor Network Fellow, I will be helping IJM Peru create a local survivors network to help victims re-integrate back into society, as well as, assist IJM Peru train and empower justice system operators and protection services to be agents of change, so they can effectively address VAWC cases with dignified responses, swift restraining of perpetrators, and pursue justice.

As a Fellow, there are several ways in which I could use your support. First, the fellowship is a full time volunteer position for this upcoming year (April 2024 to March 2025) in which I am responsible for the costs associated with the assignment. Based on estimated costs of living in Peru, my fundraising goal is $23,500. I have a one-time goal of $5,000 that will go towards my initial costs pre-deployment. I also have a recurring goal of $1,540 per month that will cover my cost of living while I am serving. No donation is too small and every dollar makes a difference!

Second, for those of you that are praying people, I would much appreciate your prayers for me, for the IJM staff in Peru, and for the women and children whom I will be serving.

It's been my dream of mine to work with IJM and to go back to the communities of women and children that I worked with in Peru in 2016 and use my professional legal experience to educate, serve, and protect them from the violence and trafficking that permeates their communities. I have seen firsthand how violence can cripple generations of children and families around the world, and I am excited to embark on this journey to work to end this type of violence world-wide.
