Hi all!
I am excited to share with you that come late August, I will embark upon an exciting new chapter in my life! In September, I will begin a 12-month internship in Lima, Peru with International Justice Mission (IJM), a Christian human rights organization based in Washington, DC, with offices in 26 countries around the world.International Justice Mission’s mission is to protect people from violent injustice by securing rescue and restoration for victims of violent crime and ensuring public justice systems work for the poor (for more information, visit www.ijm.org). IJM Peru seeks to combat sexual abuse, domestic violence, and femicide, crimes which are rarely reported or punished in the Peruvian legal system. In addition to providing legal relief, IJM Peru partners with other organizations to provide jury and police trainings as well as restorative aftercare programs for survivors.
As a project management intern, I will use my research and analytical skills to help evaluate the effectiveness of IJM Peru’s legal, survivor leadership, and community outreach initiatives throughout Peru, and formulate recommendations for how IJM and its partners can better serve vulnerable women and children in Peru. I am excited for this opportunity to move to Peru and serve with IJM, using my skills and experience to serve God’s people alongside experienced colleagues.
My internship in Peru is a support-raised position. Thus, before I leave for Peru in late August, I need to raise most of my support, which includes prayer support and $35,215. I am grateful that, to date, I have received commitments that cover about 30% of the total financial support I need to raise.
Thank you for whatever support you are willing and able to give. I look forward to sharing my experiences in Peru with you and am excited to have you join me in this!
