When I was 17 years-old, I attended the Global Leadership Summit, where speaker Gary Haugen, Founder and CEO of International Justice Mission, spoke about the atrocities that so many are facing in the world. He cited that at the time, over 46,000,000 people live in modern day slavery, and that millions more live in the shadows of other forms of egregious violence and exploitation.

I left this conference feeling deeply disturbed, but also deeply inspired. I felt inspired because Gary also shared some great news on this day. He shared that the courageous group of men and women that make up International Justice Mission are charging the darkness, bringing rescue and restoration to many and championing the rule of law to prevent violence from happening in the first place.

From this moment when I was 17 at the GLS, I have felt God calling me to charge the darkness to, join the fight to end the terrible violence that is happening in our world. After years of preparing my heart and mind, God has led me to Bolivia where I will be serving for the next year with IJM in the fight to protect over 700,000 Bolivian women and children from sexual violence by the year 2030.
