We finally received our completed home study! Yay! So, what does this mean for us?
1. We can send off all our grant applications (we've had about 5 ready to send off, but were waiting on the home study).
2. We can actually start working with a placing agency. We did lots of talking and thinking, and have applied to work with an agency that's based in Pennsylvania. They checked the most "boxes" out of all the agencies we talked to, and we really loved their advocacy for first families and open adoption.
3. We can wait. We'll be waiting to hear back from the grant organizations (including hopefully the ones that will match what we have fundraised here) on whether or not they approve us. We should know about each of these grants by sometime in the summer. Our agency doesn't allow you to be presented as a match until you have all your funding ready to go, so we likely won't be ready for that until at least the fall. In the meantime, we'll be working on our profile book and video!
In other news, I'm hosting a Noonday Trunk Show in a few weeks. I've loved Noonday for years - they have a dual mission of supporting artisans with a fair wage and supporting adoptions. If you're interested in getting some amazing jewelry and accessories (with Noonday donating 10% of proceeds toward our adoption), then check out my link to shop online:
