The number of people testing positive for the new coronavirus in Haiti has spiked dramatically from 100 cases, to more than 2,600, with 50 people dying, in the space of less than three weeks. With just two laboratories in Haiti able to process COVID-19 tests, the number of recorded cases is far lower than what is likely to be the actual number. We know that as of today Dominican Republic has 19...
Over 200 masks will be distributed to kids and adults in the Family Empowerment Program and in the Child Sponsorship Program. We have also committed to providing 200 or more masks to those in the surrounding areas of our Second Chance properties. We have raised $15,982 so far of our $20,000 goal towards Covid-19 relief. We currently have a $3,000 match available to help us reach our goal. These...
While the confirmed cases and death count appears low in data captured, we know that many more have faced Covid-19 in Haiti without being tested or treated. We are in daily communication with our leaders on the ground and will continue to provide updates. Our team on the ground is hand making at least 300-400 masks to provide for all those in our programs and those we serve in the coming weeks. We have partnered with two local churches to collaborate and serve alongside thei...

The country has 33 confirmed cases of the 257 that have been tested. As of this morning, there has been 3 deaths. Due to the inaccuracy in testing, the best way for us to monitor the situation will be from watching the deaths. The ...

With the continuing global expansion of the COVID-19 virus, the Second Chance team is closely monitoring the impact on the health and safety of the most vulnerable. We have kicked off a campaign called #Give5Forward in an effort to send meals to families with the most need. This initiative will supplement for the next 30 days. With every $5 donation we will provide 5 meals. We believe that if e...
God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear. - Psalm 46:1-2 (NIV)
It has been announced that there are officially 8 cases of the Coronavirus so far in Haiti. With limited medical care and minimal testing, we are not sure of the true number. Our biggest concern at this time is that the border at the Dominican Republic has been closed so all importing of resources is at a hold. There are many restrictions in place including that businesses would remain closed. ...
